Ingredients
3.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast (thawed)
2 cups BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s recommended)
1/4 cup light or dark brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4–1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
Instructions
1. In a 6-quart slow cooker, combine BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and crushed red pepper. Mix well.
2. Place the chicken breasts into the sauce, coating them thoroughly with a spoon.
3. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
4. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks.
5. Stir the shredded chicken well to coat with the sauce and serve warm.
