Description

A simple and flavorful cranberry orange sauce perfect for Thanksgiving or any festive meal.

Ingredients

Scale

¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
Zest of one orange
Juice of one orange (about ½ cup)
½ cup water
1 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries

Instructions

Using a zester, remove the peel from one orange.
With a sharp knife, cut the orange and squeeze out the juice, yielding about ½ cup.
Place a large pot over medium heat. Add both sugars and the water, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
Stir in the orange zest, orange juice, and cranberries. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, until the cranberries start to pop and burst.
Remove the pot from the heat and allow the cranberry mixture to cool.
Let it cool completely before serving.

Notes

Make sure to let the sauce cool completely to thicken properly before serving.
