Description
A simple, fresh cranberry sauce made with sugar and orange juice, perfect as a tangy side dish for your meals.
Ingredients
12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries (no need to thaw if frozen)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water (or orange juice for added flavor)
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or orange zest for extra flavor
Instructions
Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix the sugar and water (or orange juice). Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Boil: Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil.
Add Cranberries: Once boiling, stir in the cranberries. The mixture will return to a boil.
Simmer: Lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. You will hear the cranberries popping as they cook.
Thicken: Continue cooking until most of the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened to your preferred consistency.
Cool: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool before serving or refrigerating.
Notes
You can substitute water with orange juice for a citrus twist. Optionally add ground cinnamon or orange zest for extra flavor. This sauce stores well in the refrigerator for up to a week.
