Description
Crispy and sweet fried plantains seasoned with a blend of spices, perfect as a snack or side dish.
Ingredients
3 large plantains, peeled and sliced on a bias
½ cup vegetable oil or any neutral oil
Fried Sweet Plantain seasoning
½ teaspoon Creole Cajun seasoning, homemade or store-bought (or seasoned salt, adobo, Old Bay)
½ teaspoon packed brown sugar
Instructions
Slice the plantains on a bias, cutting at an angle into pieces about ½-inch thick.
Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the plantain slices in batches.
Fry the plantains for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and develop a slight crispness.
If the plantains are browning too quickly, lower the heat to medium-low.
Transfer the fried plantains to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Season as desired.
Serve immediately as a snack or alongside main dishes.
Notes
Use neutral oil to avoid overpowering the sweet flavor.
Adjust seasoning according to your taste preference.
Serve immediately for best texture.
