Description
A warm, festive appetizer featuring creamy brie wrapped in golden puff pastry with tangy cranberry sauce and toasted pecans.
Ingredients
2 cups fresh cranberries
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch sea salt
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 wheel of brie cheese (8-12 ounces)
2/3 cup toasted pecans, roughly chopped
1 egg, beaten
Coarse sugar, for sprinkling
Instructions
Combine cranberries, orange juice, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a medium pot.
Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook 10-15 minutes until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Place thawed puff pastry on parchment-lined baking sheet.
Set brie wheel in center and remove small portion of rind from top.
Spread cranberry sauce over exposed top of brie.
Sprinkle toasted pecans over sauce.
Fold puff pastry corners over the brie to enclose completely.
Brush pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle lightly with coarse sugar.
Bake 20-25 minutes until pastry is deep golden brown.
Serve warm with bread, crackers, or enjoy with a spoon.
Notes
Allow cranberry sauce to cool slightly before spreading on brie to avoid soaking pastry.
Use a sharp knife to remove just the top rind from brie for best results.
Serve immediately for warm, gooey cheese.
