Creamy slow cooker grits loaded with savory turkey bacon, cheddar cheese, and fresh green onions for a comforting breakfast.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups grits
6 cups water
6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled, divided
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons butter
3 green onions, sliced
Instructions
In the slow cooker bowl, combine the grits, water, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and about half of the turkey bacon. Season with salt and pepper, then let the mixture sit for a minute to allow the grits to settle at the bottom.
Cover and cook on high for about 3 hours, until the grits are tender, stirring occasionally if possible. Alternatively, cook on low for 8 hours.
Stir in the butter, green onions, and the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese and turkey bacon until the butter is melted. Serve warm.
